Running for literacy

Story

Hello beautiful beings,

I have entered to run the Sydney Blackmores half marathon again in September. This year I felt moved to raise some money for the Australian Literacy Foundation (https://alnf.org/about/) The ALNF helps people by raising literacy levels in Australia's most marginalised communities.

I've chosen this organisation not only because reading is one of the many loves of my life, but I truly believe that teaching people to read is the path to empowering people to change the world.

To quote Kofi Annan (former Secretary General of the United Nations) :

"acquiring literacy is an empowering process, enabling millions to enjoy access to knowledge and information which broadens the horizons, increases opportunities and creates alternatives for building a better life".

If you feel like donating to this organisation and my run, that would be ace!

Much love,

Larisa x

The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation Limited

The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation is a national charity assisting people in our most marginalised communities to gain vital language, literacy and communication skills. ALNF’s specialised and innovative programs address the needs of a diverse range of individuals and communities – specifically targeting First Nations, refugee and other vulnerable Australians.

ALNF believes that all Australians have the right to literacy, because being able to read and write is the key to accessing education and employment, and to participating fully in society. It is a basic human right.
