Story
This September we will run a marathon in the Sydney Blackmores Running Festival. The thought of a 42km run is terrifying but the pain and exhaustion that we experience will not even come close to a single days chemotherapy treatment that so many people face every day.
Our family and friends have been devastated by the loss of Andrew just over 18 months ago. He was many things to many people - a friend, a brother, a son, a father and husband. And so it was heartbreaking to stand alongside him watching his incredibly arduous and courageous battle against a very aggressive orphan cancer.
Soft tissue sarcoma makes for about 1% of all cancers diagnosed and there are about 70 types of soft tissue cancers. This means that funding for sarcoma research is relatively low compared to other more common cancers and so there is still much to learn about the cause and treatment for each specific sarcoma. The International Sarcoma Kindred Study is a global genetic, biological, epidemiological and clinical resource for researchers to investigate important questions relating to the hereditary characteristics of sarcoma. Andrew participated in this study before he passed away and I hope to raise money for the Kindred Study through the Cancer Council to contribute to ongoing research.
We believe that through research there will be a cure. Please help us raise money for valuable research into sarcoma.
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference!

Activity
Cancer Council NSW
We believe in a cancer free future. Every year almost 48,000 people in NSW are diagnosed with cancer. So every day we offer support to families affected by cancer, speak out on behalf of our community and find new and better ways to detect and treat cancer.
