Story

ENGLISH:

Hi everyone!

I’m just writing to tell you all about a crazy idea I’ve had to try and raise some money for a good cause (please take one minute to read through this and then you can go and spend your time in a better way…)

Now that you’re listening, I’ll tell you about all the details:

A little while ago, I decided that every year I would try to set myself one big goal, and do my best to achieve it. This year, I am challenging myself to run a HALF-MARATHON (that’s 21km!) For some people, this is as easy as ABC, but for me, it’ll be the biggest physical effort I’ve ever put myself through.

To give you an idea of my current level of fitness, I just ran 4km and now I’m completely exhausted, so let’s just say that this might be the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced. I’m very motivated though, and I’ve already started training my arse off.

But that is only one half of the challenge, the other half is to raise enough money to justify the pain I’ve been putting myself through.

The raise I’ll be entering is called ‘Blackmore’s Sydney Running Festival’, and during my registration, I discovered that if you agree to raise money for charity, they’ll waive your registration fee. So really, you’ll be donating to two excellent causes!

I have accepted Blackmore’s challenge to raise the required amount of money (if I get there, I promise I’ll put the money saved to good use hahaha), and after I’ve run the 21km, they’ll put me in a machine where I have to grab as much money as possible to donate to my chosen charity.

The charity I’ve chosen is the Leukaemia Foundation, because unfortunately, this charity hits close to home for me. I’m doing this for Jaimola Bichobola, and all the other children who shouldn’t have to go through that nightmare, as well as those who accompany them and give them the care that they need. Well, you know the speech, I won’t go in to it any more than I need to.

And now for the question you’ve all been waiting for; ‘how much do I have to give?’ Well, you should know that the required target is $700. I’ll tell you what, I think I can go one better, so I’m going to go more than double and say that my goal is at least $1500. I’m not asking you to donate your entire income, of course, nobody can live on air alone, but I firmly believe the more you give, the more you get, and the more lives you can help change!

Well, I don’t want to give you the traditional lecture of “for just one less coffee, or one less meal… blah blah blah”. I only want to appeal to your conscience, and if you don’t have one, well my goal for next year might be to learn how to hack computers so I can see which of you donated, and those that didn’t can expect me turning up on their doorstep to ask again . Really though, I am motivated, but a little extra external motivation would go along way, and really help me reach my goal.

For information on how to donate, as well as my progress, please head to my blog at (www.dalelavueltaalmundo.com).

The last thing I want to say is a big, wholehearted THANK YOU! Thank you very much!
