Story
Dear Friends
I'm taking part in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2016 and helping raise much needed funds for Giant Steps.
Autism is a pervasive development disorder which affects social and communication skills and, to a greater or lesser degree, motor and language skills.
Giant Steps was founded to help educate children and families experiencing autism, to alleviate associated stress and to guide in the achievement of measurable results.
My son Lucas suffers from the development disorder, Autism.
Lucas is 12 years old and attends Giant Steps Sydney.
Lucas loves attending Giant Steps who provide a happy and fun learning environment.
The teachers and staff at Giant Steps are a dedicated team who do an amazing job. Our kids would be lost without them.
On Sunday, 18 September 2016, I’m going to be sweating it out and doing my best to complete a gruelling course over the Harbour Bridge and around the Sydney's CBD....
I am honoured to be a part of this amazing race and helping a great cause, and I’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.

Giant Steps Sydney
Giant Steps Sydney is a world leading educational facility for children with autism. The program is trans-disciplinary which includes speech, music and occupational therapy. It is a high-level intensive program for children and young adults. The team approach at Giant Steps Sydney provides maximum support to families through the provision of home programs and frequent consultation with parents and carers. All students engage in a full range of activities which are adjusted using a range of autism friendly strategies. As Giant Steps entered its fifteenth year of operation, it became clear that there was a need for autism specific service provision for young adults leaving school. As a result 2009 saw the opening of the GS Community College (GSCC) to address the need for an autism-specific post school options program. The GSCC is based on the principles of the adult community education programs which provide the mainstream adult community with a wide variety of courses for continued learning.
